Junior Automation CAD Drafter

Position Profile 

The Jr. Automation CAD Drafter will perform entry level to intermediate level drafting work under general direction and supervision of senior staff.  The work that is to be completed will be primarily 2D type work for electrical, instrumentation and control system drawings.  

This role will support our Smart Process Team. 


The successful candidate must work both independently and within technical design teams in support of the CAD requirements for the project.  He/she will be responsible for managing workload and meeting expectations of the project team in regards to schedule, budget and quality for the drawings being generated and must be able to work well under pressure and tight deadlines.

The Jr. Automation CAD Drafter will typically use the following programs in the preparation of technical drawings:

  • AutoCAD
  • MicroStation (knowledge of both ‘J’ and ‘V8’ preferred)
  • Vector Type programs such as AutoDesk Raster Design, i-RAS/B / Bentley Descartes

Knowledge of the following will be considered as an asset to the position, but not necessary to fill the role:

  • AutoCAD Lisp (Or other scripting techniques)
  • MicroStation Batch Processes

Candidate Profile

  • Engineering Design and Drafting Diploma or equivalent
  • Well versed in 2D and 3D CAD applications
  • MicroStation (knowledge of both ‘J’ and ‘V8’ preferred)
  • A minimum of 2 years of CAD Drafting
  • Canadian Citizen or Canadian Permanent Resident
